working with schools
Here at Urban Edge we regularly work with schools all across the UK, providing high quality tuition in a variety of activities. Our tutors can offer a range of services such as after school clubs, half day workshops, full day workshops and courses at our special schools discounted rate of 10% off the booking deposit.
Thousands of school pupils have already benefited from our dance workshops, filming workshops and music workshops over the years, which is why we see that supporting schools is a vital factor in meeting our aim to see young people achieving through creative arts.
In 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Urban Edge ran the annual dance project at Pittville School, Cheltenham. For the past 4 years we have been providing Pittville School with our tutors, seeing hundreds of young people having fun and achieving through dance.
"Urban Edge have produced some amazing results in our school. The boys really enjoyed performing their piece and the process it took to get there. You could tell by the boys reactions that they felt a huge sense of achievement and the project definitely gave them a different opinion on dance."
Mick Miller - Pittville School
In 2009 Urban Edge ran a teacher training workshop in Urban Dance. The aim of the workshop was to teach the basics of each urban dance form whist giving pointers on how to structure the sessions and the history behind the dance forms. Since the workshop all teachers that participated have successfully taught their dance sessions.
"The workshop with Dan Brown last summer was excellent! All staff 'pupils' were engaged throughout and Dan pitched it just right for us 'old timers'!! There was a good balance of demonstrations / time to practice / individual time. Dan's personal excellent knowledge and skills were obvious."
Martin Hawling - Bishops Cleeve School
